Public Input Hearing Overview
What is a public hearing?
As part of the court process, the PUC (Public Utility Commission) needs to hear from the residents on any concerns about this plant. This will help the court to make the final decision if this plant should/ should not built at this location on Sproul and Cedar Grove Roads in Marple Township, PA.
Why is your participation so important?
This is the only chance for our voice to be heard. We can protest, sign petitions, make noise, media… but LEGALLY the only time the residents opinion truly counts is during the Public Input Hearing. The more residents that join the hearing, the stronger we make the case. We have about 8,000 homes in Broomall, we are hoping to have THOUSANDS of people joining the REMOTE hearing.
How to prepare for the meeting?
This will be a remote (phone) meeting. You can attend it from your couch!
They will start by asking your name and your address. Than they will ask why you are against the plant.
Here are few considerations:
You can write a little paragraph and read off of it to make you feel more comfortable. You don’t need to talk much if you don’t want to, just express that you do not agree with where PECO chose this location to build this plant, but please use your own words and PASSION and FACTs if you have them.
Can more than one people of the same household join the hearing?
YES! The more the merrier! Husbands, wives, young employees at neighboring businesses should register individually.
PECO has been VERY sneaky during this whole process. Lack of open communication with the residents, lack of showing other facilities similar to this, lack of diligence finding another place… we can keep going on and on… They had hired the top lawyers in Philadelphia and they are fighting hard. LETS FIGHT BACK! We need your help!

Here are few considerations:
- PECO had NOT informed me about this plant. I just learned about this few weeks ago from social media and the white signs on my neighbor’s yard.
- I am concerned about the safety of my family and neighbors.
- PECO has not provided evidence on demand and consumption that this plant is even needed
- This is an industrial facility and does not conform to zoning ordinances to protect the health, safety and welfare of Marple residents and local businesses, particularly around noxious odors, safety and noise.
- Marple Township Zoning unanimously voted to DENY the Special Exception PECO needs to build this plant. I trust my township leadership and assessment of the safety and wellbeing of its residents.
- From what I was informed by my neighbors, PECO has yet to provide the information below and for this reason I do not trust PECO has the best interest on the wellbeing of the community:
- A list of similar plant locations in residential areas
- Details whether Marple Township was contacted and if they were contacted, who and how they were contacted prior to the zoning special permit request
- Date when the pipeline laying started for this project – have they started this project prior proper approval?
- If PECO had reached out to any other, more suitable property owners for this plant
